From time to time I’m going to add a blog with some easy, basic tips about using, working and advertising on the Internet; along with tips about creating a website. They won’t be technical, but simple tips for the business owner who isn’t a technical expert.
Here’s hoping some of them will help YOU!
Tip #1: Don’t stress about it.
If you need help – there is an amazing amount of help from some really nice people who have taken the time to share their knowledge. I love Youtube! Go to Youtube.com and search for what you need. From reviews about various web services to Gutenberg editing “how-tos” there is a bit of everything. All you need to do is watch a few seconds of an ad – then a WEALTH of info for free. How great is that?!
Google.com is also great! Just start searching. And note that the first results are usually ads for products – if that’s not what you want – they are clearly marked now with the word “ad”. Skip over those and you’ll find something, I promise. But always take this advice with a grain of salt. It’s just a good way to begin finding out what you want to learn And if Google gives you an error page when you click the link – DON’T click on through. They are protecting you from sites potentially containing malware.
For instance – you are a relationship coach (among my favorite people!!) and you want to open an office in your city, but want to know who your competition might be. Go to Google.com and simply type in “relationship coach cityname” (substituting your city for “cityname”). Then click around and just see who is there and what they are offering. (I mentioned this in my article about finding your niche).
