Getting Started – 5 areas to think about.
Solopreneurs and small businesses have a lot to think about when creating a website – or even updating an old one. Below are a few basics to get you started:
- First things first!
Exactly what do you plan to do/sell/offer to visitors to your website. Pretty basic, right? Well putting all that into words can be tricky. - What’s your style?
Do you like color, a “corporate” look, or are you and your business more “fancy”? Do you have actual photos that reflect your product or service? Do you need to take some? - How do you want people to contact you?
Again, pretty basic – but you need to decide if you want an online scheduler that potential clients can access – or do you want them to call you – maybe not on your personal phone line! How about texting? Or a contact form? Or do you just want a designated email address to share on your website? - What do you plan to do about hours?
Is your business one that will have “regular business hours” – the traditional 9 to 5, Monday through Friday? - What about products or a payment button?
Do you need to sell anything? Or do you want to offer a payment button for your services? If products, do you have photos of those products? Who is your payment processor?
